Community Service Projects

Buckner’s All-Stars participate in a variety of community service projects. Community service provides an opportunity for the All-Stars to give back to the community.

March 31, 2007 - Community Service Project with Buckner International Shoes for Orphan Souls Program
The Shoes for Orphan Souls program takes donated shoes and distributes them to orphan children in the United States as well as other economically and socially disadvantaged countries around the world.  The All-Stars helped this cause by volunteering their time to process shoes at the Buckner International warehouse. Their duties ranged from inspecting shoes for damages to pairing and sorting shoes by size and style. During the process, the All-Stars were allowed to leave personal notes to the potential shoe recipients to make that pair even more special for the child that is going to receive it.

March 29th, 2007 - "Bowling with Buck" Celebrity Bowling Event
Greg Buckner and his foundation hosted a celebrity bowling tournament at 300 Dallas in Addison, TX. Participants included the entire Dallas Mavericks team, along with Head Coach Avery Johnson, assistants Del Harris and Joe Prunty, and General Manager Donnie Nelson. Other notable celebrities included Dallas Cowboys stars’ Roy Williams and Marcus Spears, Pete Hunter of the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas hip-hop star Big Tuck. The event was a tremendous success; raising over $50,000 to benefit the foundation- the funds go towards the All-Stars Program, the Mother Like Mine Program, the Buck-ets of Books Program, and the G-Buck Student Athlete Tutoring Program.

June 3 2006 - Community Service Project with Food Bank of the Rockies
The All-Stars volunteered their time and energy by working in the reclamation department at Food Bank. They inspected, cleaned, sorted and boxed up food and cleaning products. The food will be sent out to needy families in Colorado and Wyoming. The All-Stars’ work was very much appreciated as the staff at Food Bank praised them for being “one of the best groups ever.”

March 25, 2006 - Community Service Project with World Vision
World Vision is a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide realize their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty. World Vision sends donated clothes, food and supplies to kids in underprivileged countries. The Buckner’s All-Stars helped out by repacking sweatpants donated by Wal-Mart. These sweatpants will soon be sent to Cambodia to help clothe kids dealing with the current problem of massive flooding in the area.
